Frequently Asked Questions
Are you affliated or part of the Road Dawgs, dogz, doggs.. from ... etc.?  No, we are an independent club that was formed from the ground up and we have no affliations with any other club of similar name.  We (the Southern Marylanders) are the founding chapter and will always serve as the Headquarters.
How many people are in the club?
This is a matter of private Club Business.
How can I join?  Membership isn't automatic and we don't actively recruit.  Patchholders are trusted friends that prove to share common beliefs, values, and dedication. If you are sincere, you're best bet is to show up to all our events and rides, and get to know us.  If we don't know you, it will take time, so you will need to be patient.
Why do people join?  Different reasons - unity, fellowship, security, excitement, adventure, mystery, etc.  Its good to know that help is only a phone call away, regardless of the situatiion.
What kind of members are in your club?  Hard to say - no two are alike.  Ages run from early 20's through 60's.  Most are hitched / some ain't.  Some drink / most don't.  Some are wild / some ain't.  Wide range of skills / trades / experience.  Above everything, all are good people who love riding and want to have a good time!  Patcholders represent Calvert, Charles, and St Mary's Countys.
What does a person get out of being in the club? Its different for everyone.  Wish I could say fame and fortune, but that hasn't happened yet.   Being around adventurous people who want to get out and experience life is a major advantage.  You also have access to folks who know bikes inside and out.  Escape from the routine of daily life may be another good answer.
Don't you have jobs and families?
You bet, we got ol' ladys / squeezes, rug rats, dogs, horses, jobs, and so on.   What we don't have is endless $$ so we all do the day to day grind, like most everyone else, to pay bills, keep roofs over our heads, put food on the table, and keep our bikes on the road.  We rarely talk about work or what we do outside the club -- its good that way !
Can I still hang and ride with you if I'm not a member?
Yes, we're open to new people hanging with us.  Few are able to give the level of committment we require, but we'd still appreciate your support!! !
How do I find a sponsor? If you don't already know a patchholder, it will take time.  Sponsoring a new Prospect is serious business to us and is not taken lightly.  You will need to make yourself available and prove your worth as a potential Prospect and a person of trust.
Suppose I join and later I decide It's not for me?
Our time-phased period of hang-around and Prospect status is designed for you to learn about us as much as it is for us to learn about you.   During this time you will experience and learn the way of the club.  We will be observing you and deciding what you bring to the club.  Member's have quit and they still live.
Are you an Outlaw Gang?
No -- and the proper term is CLUB!  We suppose you're referring to  the 1%'er Outlaw Motorcycle Clubs.  We have close acquaintances (brothers) in many clubs and they have our utmost respect as they represent the true time-earned, hard-core values of what MC brotherhood is about.  Nothing "outlaw" is happening here.  Also, note that we have female members and that is definitely a major difference.  If you are asking if we're hardcore  - check see how many bikes are on the road in February round our parts.
Where do you all hang out?
You will find us at just about any motorcycle event within the several state reach -- MD, VA, PA, NC, SC, etc.  We also sponsor many charitable events, whenever possible.  Finally, we have a slight passion for socializin' and partyin' and we frequent a variety of Southern Maryland biker-friendly taverns.  We especially like watering holes that are colors friendly and don't discriminate against motorcycle clubs.
I'd love to join, but I don't live in your area
.  We have links to sources of biker information that can guide you towards MCs in your area.  Your local HOG chapter is a good option for those who just want to ride and aren't looking for committment.  We are not against franchising our club nationally or even internationally.  A word of caution to those thinking about starting a club from scratch -- believe us that there is much required in standing up a new club from scratch and -- YOU MUST DO IT PROPERLY  -- DO NOT JUST MAKE PATCHES AND START RIDING AROUND PROCLAIMING YOURSELVES A MOTORCYCLE CLUB! If you don't know why, you ain't ready
You say you're not a 1% club, but I see pictures on the website with 1%'er
s. So?   Like stated earlier we have friends from all walks of life.  But, we are a neutral club and will remain that way.  The Southern Maryland biker community is a tight network of close friends -- nuff said!
Why are you so open about your club on this websit
e? What's to hide?
Do you all ride year round?
Some do, some don't.  In our area we don't have much of a winter so riding is possible if you don't mind freezin the boys on the cooler nights!
How do I know if I'm hardcore enough?
If you have to ask, you ain't !
Is the general public invited to your functions?
Meetings are closed to patchholders only.  Social events, parties, Poker Runs, etc. are open to all.   Once in awhile, we have closed parties for patchholders only so that we can let out hair down and not offend.
Why so many parties? Hmmm.  Is there such a thing?  We love a good time and if we can't find one, we make one!  We only have a couple big partys a year and we like to do it big each time.   We give good old-fashioned parties and don't gouge folks - people appreciate that!  These functions are our best way to raise operating funds and be as generous as we are with charities.
Whats with bars that don't allow colors? Hell if we know!  Guess they're afraid we'll bring too much business in -- maybe a couple hundred people in a poker run!  Funny thing is its only a problem at places where people with motorcycles tend to hang out like "biker bars"!  Its never a problem at family bars like Hooters or Applebees - go figure !
Are you serious? Not Much
